Our Teachers

Gen Kelsang VarahiKadampa Buddhist nun Gen Kelsang Varahi is a close disciple of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. She was appointed Resident Teacher at Vajrayogini Buddhist Center by Geshe-la in 2000. Gen Varahi delights in her role as Teacher, mentor and friend to everyone at the Center. Remarkable for her extensive knowledge of Buddhadharma, Varahi brings sharp humor and accessibility to her teachings.

RonRon Bamberg has been studying Buddhism for over a decade. He integrates Dharma into all areas of his life as a husband, grandfather and co-worker. Ron’s teachings are presented with clarity and humor. He is a student in the Teacher Training Program and is also the webmaster for the Meditation in Hampton Roads website.

MJMichael-James B. Weaver (MJ) is an Old Dominion University alumnus with a degree in religious studies, having been immersed in the subject since his teenage years. A Hampton Roads native, Michael is known for his great faith in Buddha’s teachings and his dedication towards the flourishing of Kadam Dharma. MJ is a student in the Teacher Training Program and teaches the General Program class in Norfolk, VA. Michael is preparing for ordination under Varahi’s guidance.
